As promised here is our holiday raiding schedule. We have already been bitten by the mix of burn out, holiday afk, and a raid cock block. This will be good time off for everybody so we can rock with 3.3 ICC comes in.
Feel free to make your own raids as you would like. 10's, PUG 25's, other guild stuff ect. I do suggest checking with other raiders to see if they have anything cooking up at this time. I know myself and Moldyballs will be running 10 hard mode stuff for sure and alt 10's throughout the holiday as well. You can pretty much count on Jbers and Dien with their 100 alts to be doing stuff all Holiday season as well.
Happy Holidays to all.
THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY November 22nd last day of raids before Thanksgiving Holiday November 24th - 29th OFF December 1st. Back to raiding
CHRISTMAS/NEW YEARS HOLIDAY December 20th last day of raids before Christmas Holiday December 22nd-January 3rd OFF January 5th back to raiding.

At the risk of angering certain people again, Im gonna post in this thread.
When we had a brief discussion about this thread and schedule in vent during a raid, some people got angry and upset. I understand that there were several people who knew this schedule and thought it was fine. There are also apparantly a fair number who hadnt seen this post, or whom didnt think that the schedule was the best possible.
I think its important to note two things about Ridahs original post here. 1). He made it very long ago, and perhaps hadnt anticipated that 3.3 would be live during December. Some people want thier shot at the new fun dungeon and the chance to collect thier badges and other shinies. 2). The original post says basically "Here is the schedule. Now you know." It didnt ask for feedback or reaction, and some people might be upset about not having a voice in something they have invested a great deal of time into.
So, without angering anyone, to just try and keep everyone as happy and enjoying this game and social situation as much as possible (cuz thats what its all about, right?) I suggest one little tiny change to the original holiday schedule.
January 3rd is the final Sunday of the proposed AFK time. I think that we could probably field enough raiders to get ICC25 down during our 4 hrs on Sunday. It is significantly after christmas, and even new years. I would bet that enough people would be willing to return to raiding 1 raid day early, to participate in the new content.
January 5th is our scheduled return to raiding, and is also supposed to be the day that the next wing of ICC becomes available. By agreeing to raid on the 3rd, we go into the new content with that much new gear and badges, as well as a brief refresher practice raid, on the old content after almost 2 weeks of no guild 25mans.
Im not trying to stir stuff up here, just offering a suggestion and my perspective.

I totally agree. Having a refresher right before new content will keep us on our toes. And any new gear will be that much more helpful when we go in. I am down for this extra raid day. You should be too!

I'd say if there are 25 people on then raiding should happen. If there aren't 25 on .. well then .. it wont.
I'm sure there are a least a few people in the guild that will be traveling and a few that will be focusing on friends and family rather than raiding. I know RL getting in the way of raiding .. ZOMG!! Seems like it will work itself out.
The people that will be on during the holiday should focus on getting the 10 man ICC done for sure.
Since I'm on the subject of 10 mans ..
From my perspective, (which will change as soon as kid #2 graces us with his presence) I'd really like to see a little more focus on getting the 10 mans done earlier in the week. The 10 mans are generally easier and any upgrades that we get from them will help the 25 man later in the week. This will probably need to change once the third and fourth wings are open as it will take longer to clear the 25 man content. I see no reason to go to 25 man ToGC until the 10 man ICC and 25 man ICC instances are done for the week. ToGC may have a few upgrades for people but the number has to be very small relative to the number of upgrades found in ICC.
Since there are only about 10 people that read the forums I'm not sure who's going to read this thread anyway.. ;-)
Happy holidays to those of you that do read it.

I think it's closer to twenty ppl who read this stuff. I check it several times a day. But I'm a loser like that. I am sure that as Viddy says: it will all work out in the end. But that doesn't mean we shouldn't communicate and try to steer stuff in the best direction. The problem with a wait and see attitude with a suggestion like doing a raid on the 3rd is that some people will get scared and get themselves saved to some pug that may or may not be successful. If we have a bit of forethought we can help to ensure that the largest number of our ppl have the best and most successful and efficient experience that week.

A 25 person would be great on that Sunday. The reason I did not schedule it was due to the fact of typically poor attendance on Sunday and the relatively close holiday. I'm betting we won't have 25 online. If we do great but others may choose to be saved to alt or a PUG run earlier in the week. All the factors above is why I chose not to raid on said Sunday.

Thank you for commenting Ridah. Im glad you agree that its a good idea, and share some of your concerns. Those very reasons are why I think its important to get the notice out there. Have officers announce it, use this forum, and change the GmoTD so that everyone knows that we plan on doing a run on the 3rd, and hopefully they will not get themselves saved, if they can make it on the 3rd.

Alright, time to update this post.
After getting Ridahs feedback in this thread, and participating in discussions with many guildies, officers, and Moldrekh, it has been decided that we ARE in fact aiming to have a 25man ICC raid on the 3rd of January.
I hope that this is enough after the holidays, and that everyone misses thier guidies enough to try and make themselves available for this raid. Raid time will be the regular 530-930 on Sunday January 3rd.
If you cannot make the 3rd, feel free to try and find another raid, ect.... but it might be helpful if you could let some ppl know, in game or on this thread, ect. Hopefully enough of us will be able to be online and available for a successful return to raiding and get our badges and practice to be ready for the NEW wing of ICC released on Jan 5.

I know you say it in the next paragraph, but update that occurrence to January 3rd also and it looks good.
Are you going to update the MOTD, since some people neglect the forums?

Thanks Xentin. You had to quote it for Posterity... didnt you. I was already fixing that typo, probably at the same time you were telling me to, before I saw your post.
And yes, it is going to be added to the MotD, as well as the ingame and forum Calendar.

Late damned quote but I agree wholeheartedly with this point. At least twice that I can remember this year(4th of July, Halloween) we had piss poor attendance during our already light Sunday roster. Holidays that fall on weekends mean long trips for a lot of people and making it home on a Sunday in time to raid during a holiday rush hour is an unrealistic expectation. I'll be trying my damndest and I'm only 2 hours away from home. But again, during holiday weekends a 2 hour drive can easily become a 5 hour trip. Especially since I don't know the details of all my guests' flight plans, when I'll need to be at which complex, or if the roads will be iced out. I have a feeling that I'm not the only one in this boat and while people may be bitching about missing a Sunday when they had a month to check the forums and give feedback it's more ridiculous in my opinion to wait until we're officially on downtime, springing an extra raid and announcing it on Christmas Eve.

Seriously. edit: bleh, I'm pretty sure we can make it. But Christmas Eve is a terrible time to update a raid schedule. Good grief. The only reason I checked this thread is because Katsah posted and I follow him and Shiro pretty much everywhere. Ridah, too, but that's beside the point.

Well, I certainly hope you all can make it. But if you can't, or even for some reason dont want to, I dont think it will be held against you. Its more of an unofficial raid then a real raid, given the circumstances I think. Its a game, dont stress too much about it.
And personally, I dont think announcing an updated schedule Christmas eve means anything. It was simply the soonest I had been able to co-ordinate with several people to make sure that it sounded like a decent plan. It was more about getting it announced as early as possible to make sure that everyone has as much time as possible (10 days) to consider thier options. Would it have been better to announce it on Decemeber 29th?
But seriously, I know some ppl are excited about getting in a raid that week, while still having the majority of the week off. If anyone cant make it, the rest of us will deal. Less anger, more Pie.
